Transportation to Solentiname

Collectivo San Carlos from Solentiname

From San Carlos Nicaragua, Solentiname operates a collectivo going to Solentiname to San Carlos. It runs on Tuesday's and Friday's. The collective leaves Solentiname at 5:00am, arriving in San Carlos before 7:00am.

It returns from San Carlos the same day. It leaves San Carlos at 1:30pm, arriving in Solentiname about 4:30.

Private pangas can be hired in San Carlos. They should cost between $90 and $125.00, depending on your negotiating skills.

San Carlos down the Rio San Juan to Castillo

Boats depart approximately every 1.5 hours from San Carlos starting at 8:00am. A slow freighter boat leaves San Carlos daily at 2:00pm

San Carlos to San Juan de Norte depart Tuesday and Friday.

San Carlos to Ometempe and Grenada leaves San Carlos Tuesday and Friday afternoon approximately 2pm

Los Chiles Costa Rica to San Carlos Nicaragua

Generally the first boat leaves the public dock in Los Chiles at about 10.00, or when it is full. Sometimes it does not depart until after 12:00 noon, which makes catching the collectivo to Solentiname difficult. It is possible, but expensive to hire a private boat in Los Chiles. Sometimes, you can split the cost of a private boat in Los Chiles with other tourists. Check with Oscar at Restaurant Heliconia or Estaban jr at the dock or the Park Restaurant for more information on private boats. It is difficult to hire a private boat once you have put your name on the public boat roster. And generally locals will not be able to join in a private trip.
